We Win the NMA Effectiveness Award for Travel 2010!
Described as ‘the Greatest Prize in New Media’, the New Media Age Effectiveness Awards have been held every year for the last fourteen years. They aim “to provide a benchmark of excellence from which the industry can learn and build” and are awarded to websites and other interactive propositions in recognition of creativity, innovation and experimentation in delivering genuine business benefits and real value to the consumer.
Last night, at a very glamorous ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, vtravelled were thrilled to be awarded the NMA Effectiveness Award 2010 for the Travel category by the industry bible’s Editor-in-Chief Michael Nutley, aided by the rather lovely Claudia Winkleman. We’re delighted that New Media Age and the industry at large recognise the motivation behind vtravelled, and the future potential and possibilities for the site. This has really spurred us on as we work hard to achieve a better all-round consumer experience in our second round of development.
This is our very first award – arriving a year to the day after vtravelled launched – and we hope it will be the start of a new trend! Next up are the Travolution awards in September, for which this very blog has been nominated in the best business-to-consumer Travel Blog category. Fingers crossed we’ll be adding that to the mantelpiece too.

Very cool. Congrats. I’m in the process of building a travel blog for the company I work for and I’ve learned alot from all the things you’ve done with this blog.

Hi Kevin,
According to the judges, we won because they thought the site was ‘really engaging’ and ‘resonated with the target audience’ – amongst other comments that I can’t remember right now as we were too busy having a good time :)
We think they recognised the motivation behind vtravelled and what we’re trying to do with the site. We’ve always been very open about the fact that we’re not where we want to be just yet – check out first blog post at the bottom of this page – but we’re working hard to get there. But in NMA’s own words, these awards go to sites that display creativity, innovation and experimentation so we’re pleased they spotted the potential.
Maxine
